Made by a member here whom i have not seen post in several years. I doubt the pics of this build survived multiple server transitions, possibly the threads themselves did.

Reed, if you get to see this, please consider posting the 820's here in the marketplace first if you ever decide to sell them.

Most definitely built to a higher quality standard than factory cabinets.

Right, built well beyond Altec or similar standards of construction, material specs [including many DIYers] and with only a $300 'BIN' price that in my locale doesn't even cover the material cost, so lots of leeway cost wise to fund a road trip and still be a bargain.

He puts the 820s up for sale and I'll be seriously considering raiding my long term healthcare fund assuming 'Odamnbama Care' and inflation doesn't eat it up first..........

$100 per cabinet and they look to be in great shape ! A little too far for me to be feasible unfortunately...

They should be pristine. He built them new just a few years ago from top quality materials, and AFAIK, they've never been out of his home. The build was covered here in a thread from start to finish, he did a truly outstanding job, IMO.

Longer than I remembered.

I didn't notice the date when I found it this morning to check for pics. Worse my speakers had been 'dead' for a year by then, so over a decade now with no quick end in sight thanks to all the storm damage not covered this year.
